Why Not Solar AC?!?

We do get asked all the time about going all-in to run our air conditioners entirely off of solar.

And, well, it is possible.

Instead – we consciously decided to optimize our setup for running our air conditioning entirely off battery power, with solar as a supplement.

We can run our AC full blast for 2-2.5 hours, powered only by our 500AH LFP batteries. Whatever sun power we do collect of course extends that run time out significantly.

But if the heat is too extreme to need the AC for more than an hour or two a day – it’s time to retreat to electrical hook-ups, or resort to our 2500w propane-powered generator to supplement the peak demand

Hybrid System Off-the-Grid System.

RV Off Grid Kits are designed for small to medium usage depending on your power needs. Remember Solar systems are Only as good as the Sun

If you expect to be away from shore power or the sun for extended periods of time routinely, I recommend that you invest in a Hybrid System Off-the-Grid System.

This includes purchasing a backup generator.  It's better to invest there than investing in an oversized expensive battery bank that seldom gets to operate at it`s full potential. 

Use the inverter generator to top off your battery pack on cloudy days or when you want to use major electrical appliance (air condition).  

Use your 12-volt Solar System take care of your LED lights, radio, laptop, phone tv etc.

The future of off-Grid Solar Systems is Hybrid Solar sytems because of there lower cost and increased flextiblility. (neighbor friendly - can't say that enough)

Reduce your Battery Bank

Battery banks typically needs to be replaced every 10 years or so.  

If you recharge below 50%  frequently, or do not maintain a trickle charge in storage, you will reduce the productivity and life of your batteries considerabily and or have dead batteries in the Spring.

Don't forget, batteries are in need of constant monitoring and routine maintenance as it decreases your overall system efficiency.

Wouldn't it be  nice to have access to a generator at the house for unexpected emergencies?
